Subject:          REMINDER: Reporting to Work in a Natural Disaster

During times of emergency and disasters, the hospital provides essential services to its community. The Hawaii Emergency Management Act defines all state and county employees as “emergency workers.”

All HHSC employees are required to report to work and perform functions as determined by management during the course of an emergency or disaster. The functions they perform are not limited to their respective job duties.

If you are prevented from reporting to work in accordance with your scheduled shift, the leave may be charged to vacation, comp time, or leave without pay, pending management approval.
