Dean was born and raised in Manoa Valley on the island of Oahu, and is a graduate from Maryknoll High School and the Hawai’i Carpenters Apprenticeship & Training Program. He has 25 plus years of experience in the Construction Industry as a Carpenter and General Contractor. Dean has volunteered his time and construction expertise to help many nonprofit organizations on the Big Island, most recently Habitat For Humanity, Saint Joseph School, Hope Services, and Hawaii Island Construction Career Days. He also has served on numerous Hawaii County Boards and Commissions, including the Open Space & Natural Resource Preservation Commission, the Board of Appeals, and the Windward Planning Commission. Dean has resided on the Big Island since 1994 and is currently the Hilo Field Representative for the Hawai’i Regional Council of Carpenters.
