Hilo Medical Center provides 24-hour Skilled Nursing Services and Rehabilitation Services designed to meet the needs of our East Hawaii community. We are licensed for 35 long term care beds. Each resident receives individualized and continuous nursing care. Our Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nurse Aides and Restorative Nurse Aides works closely with medical staff and our long term care interdisciplinary team to ensure that each resident is provided with the highest quality of care.
Hilo Medical Center’s Extended Care Facility offers a home-like environment while providing our kupuna and makua with specialized nursing care and rehabilitation services in our satellite rehab gym. Many of our residents in Extended Care reside here on a long term care basis, enjoying an array of daily activities, `ohana style dining, and much more.

Recent Awards
In 2017, Hilo Medical Center’s Long Term Care Department received a 5-star rating for long term care by Nursing Home Compare. The staff and facility were designated as a Providigm Accredited Facility for Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement (QAPI) and was awarded with the Embracing Quality Award for Prevention of Hospital Readmissions.
