About Us

The East Hawaii Health Cancer Center (EHHCC) proudly stands as the most expansive Commission on Cancer (CoC) accredited oncology facility on the Big Island of Hawaii, offering comprehensive cancer care through our radiation and medical oncology departments. Our integrated approach allows for a streamlined, cohesive patient experience that underscores our unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of our community.

At EHHCC, we employ a broad-spectrum approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, managing common malignancies such as lung, skin, and breast cancer, as well as less prevalent conditions like throat and brain cancer, and hematological (blood) care. Moreover, we are pleased to extend survivorship appointments to our community members. Survivorship, defined as the absence of cancer signs post-treatment, forms the basis of our tailored care plans, which encompass a detailed record of the patient’s cancer treatment history and any requisite future follow-up tests.

Our facility, conveniently situated at 1285 Waianuenue Ave., is located directly opposite the Hilo Medical Center’s emergency department. In an effort to better cater to the needs of our community, EHHCC underwent an essential expansion from 11 to 18 infusion chairs in the medical oncology department. The expansion was officially completed in May of 2023, this new exciting development enables us to provide enhanced service from our new first-floor location for all of Hawaii Island. The additional chair capacity underscores Hilo Medical Center’s commitment to continue delivering safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care to our patients. The wellbeing of our community and their families remains central to our mission.

At EHHCC, we are privileged to serve a distinctive and diverse patient population on the Big Island of Hawaii. Our interactions with the community, their families, and our colleagues are guided by our ethos of compassionate care. This philosophy is embodied through our commitment to ensure patient comfort, offering reassuring words during anxious moments, and helping patients articulate their concerns when words elude them. As patient advocates, our practice of compassionate care significantly enhances the patient experience in the most humane and simplest of ways.
